Things to do in Dubai during Ramadan!
Dubai is a city that is known for its vibrancy and cultural diversity,...
January has the mildest weather of the entire year, making it the perfect time to play sports, watch matches or even run a marathon. Dubai has over ten major athletic venues, countless stadiums, racetracks, fairways, and aquatic complexes. Due to the city’s population of more than 200 different nationalities, almost every sporting event is held here!
The first week after the New Year is still very busy, but there are fewer people than you would typically see in Dubai in December, making it the best time to visit. In January, the days might get as high as 31.8°C (89°F), and the nights as low as 14.6°C (58°C).
Let’s take a look at all the sports events that will be happening around the city this month.
Visit Dubai to see a centuries-old sport and cheer on your favorite participants from the sidelines. From January 7 to January 18, the Dubai Crown Prince Camel Festival will take place on the sands of the Al Marmoom Camel Race Track under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
Five divisions of purebred Arabian camels compete in thrilling races over distances ranging from 5 to 8 kilometers in the event, which is entering its fifth year.
Make sure to witness the 60-foot Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race from the shore. This series of races is a part of a busy winter schedule of water sporting competitions that take use of the city’s ideal water and weather conditions, and it is organized by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC).
Are you interested in water sports? This is the perfect event for you! The current UAE Aquabike Championship, an exhilarating event on Dubai International Marine Club’s (DIMC) yearly watersports calendar, will wow spectators in January. From Dubai’s beach, viewers can see the action as experienced sportsmen demonstrate amazing skill and control while riding jet skis.
Six of the top teams in the world will face off in an 18-goal handicap in the Silver Cup, a famous polo event that is part of Dubai’s polo calendar.
The Silver Cup, now in its 13th year, is a highly anticipated occasion that combines an elegant sport with top-notch entertainment and fashion sightings. With fun and entertainment for the whole family, you may attend the matches and support your favorite teams in polo-picnic style, or you can reserve a delicious breakfast with a view of the polo field.
Top international golfers will be in Dubai this month for the Dubai Desert Classic, which promises to be a delight for golf fans. Join fellow sports fans at the Majlis course located in the lush Emirates Golf Club to see all the action.
The Omega Dubai Desert Classic is held at Emirates Golf Club, one of the most well-known clubs in the area. The Majlis, The Faldo, and the Par 3 academy course are three pristine courses that offer a range of areas to play from that are appropriate for all ability levels.
It’s time to get dressed up and head to the races if you want to see the world’s best horses and jockeys compete at a stunning venue as the Dubai World Cup Carnival gets underway at Meydan Racecourse. With a half-mile length, the grandstand has room for more than 60,000 spectators.
FUN FACT: The track’s interior was also used as a filming location for the film Star Trek Beyond.
